Tree Removal

Tree Trimming

There are many different ways to trim a tree in which you can accomplish your desired result.

Crown Cleaning: One of the most common ways to trim a tree, crown cleaning includes the selective removal of branches that are dead, diseased, broken or have a weak attatchment. Thinning of selective branches is included when conducting a crown cleaning. This helps to promote an increase of light penetration and air movement throughout the crown of the tree.

Dangerous Limbs: Tree branches that are cracked, split, suffering from rot, or that have broken off completly but are caught in the tree pose a danger to those operating under the tree and are best to be removed.

Crown Raising: This consists of the removal of the lower branches of a tree in order to provide clearance of stuctures, vehicles, and pedestrians.

Pollarding: Though a less common way to prune, this is a training system that consists of making severe header cuts the first year. Each following year the sprouts are trimmed back to the original header cut which will form pollard heads, known as knobs or knuckles.


Fruit tree pruning

Fruit tree pruning is best when done during fall, winter or in the spring.

Reasons to prune a fruit tree:

  • To develop desired shape

  • To maintain desired size

  • To remove dead or broken branches

  • To stimulate fruit production

  • To promote the health of the tree.

It is best to prune a fruit tree annually. When a fruit tree is neglected it can take a few years of proper pruning to bring it back into a desired size.

Stump Grinding and Removal

When stumps are an eye sore, tripping hazard or just a dead space in the yard it is best to get them removed. The mulch left behind is great in flowerbeds or gardens.
